All CHARLTON BROWN Certificate III, IV and Diploma courses are available via our External Study Program. This program allows students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes the option to obtain accredited qualifications via correspondence at their own pace.
All External Students complete the same qualifications as students studying on campus, including the submission of assessment and the competion of practical work experience.
The theoretical aspect of the courses are entirely self-paced. CHARLTON BROWN supplies the resources required to complete each unit in the form of reading materials, assessment booklet and skills assessment.
In addition to the theory, you are also undertake Practical Work Experience in a care facilty or family home, depending on your Community Services discipline. CHARLTON BROWN arranges your placement on your behalf and takes care of Indemnity Insurance while you are on ‘prac’.
Successful competion of both the practical and theoretical components will lead to you obtaining your competencies.
CHARLTON BROWN understands that while studying via correspondence you are also balancing your work and personal commitments. This is why we have developed the External Study Program without deadlines and or a predetermined duration. Each course has a full time course duration, which you can use as a guide, or you can take your time, and compelte your qualification at your own pace.
CHARLTON BROWN trainers will provide support and motivation to ensure that you are on track, and may suggest a completion strategy to suit your circumstances.
External Students can pay the full cost of the qualification upfront (see Course Schedule for specific price details) or on a per unit basis.
If you choose to pay per unit, the cost is $140.00 per unit, and can be purchased individually or in bulk (e.g. 2 or 3 units at a time). Payment is required prior to new units being sent out.
Once enrolled as an External Student you will have access to CHARLTON BROWN Trainers via telephone, email and face-to-face appointments. Trainers will be able to assist you with your theory and assignments, practical work experience as well as offering advice for employment and career development.
External students are also welcome to attend scheduled classes throughout the academic year.
Enrolment for all External courses is available through www.charltonbrown.com.au or by contacting CHARLTON BROWN College directly.
