Finding the right visa for you!

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) Visa Wizard can help you find the Australian visa most likely to meet your specific circumstances.

Check out the Wizard at http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/

Living in Brisbane

The CHARLTON BROWN Campus is situated in Central Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, also known as Australia's 'Smart State'.

Close to public transport and a short walk from some of the famous Brisbane landmarks, studying at CHARLTON BROWN means witnessing first hand our bustling boutique shopping districts transform into thriving night spots as the working day ends and party time starts, where the trade mark laidback fun-loving attitude of Queenslanders gets put on show.

Queensland is famous for its beautiful climate - making outdoor activities and day trips to our famous beaches, or our tropical rainforests, an excellent way to enjoy and explore Queensland.

Because of its vibrant economy and expanding infrastructure, Brisbane is the ideal place to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the care industries.

Health cover

As an international student, Australia's national health program (Medicare) does not cover you. A requirement of your visa is to purchase an Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC) prior to your entry into the country. CHARLTON BROWN has an arrangement with the Australian Health Management, otherwise known as AHM.

CHARLTON BROWN will incorporate the cost of your Overseas Student Health Cover into the cost of your course (please note that prices currently listed on our website are excluding OSHC). The cost of OSHC will vary depending on the length of your course and visa.

For more information on AHM please visit their website. AHM's website has 'Frequently Asked Questions' in a variety of languages and also has an interpreter service available.

Working in Australia

While in Australia on a Student Visa you are able to work up to 20 hours per week while studying.  Make sure that study remains your priority and that work does not distract you from your studies.

Students are permitted to commence working in Australia once your course has commenced.  Once you have found a suitable job, ensure that it does not interfere with your study as this is your number one priority.  Not attending classes due to work is not permitted.

CHARLTON BROWN can assist students with preparing their resumes, handy interview tips and guidance in finding paid employment.  Once you have commenced, make a time to see our Employment Consultant.
