Student Nannies and 'Prac Families'

Nanny's @ workCHARLTON BROWN® Nanny College is looking for families who are able to provide our Nannies-in-Training with the opportunity to put theory into practice in an everyday situation. Prac days are Thursdays and Fridays for a period of approximately 7.5 hours per day. The duration of the practical experience will range from 8-10 weeks. The family is required to have a new born baby and a toddler to be eligible as a prac family. However, if you have a young baby, multiple birth babies, or particular circumstances, please fill in the application form for consideration. The 'Prac Parent/s’ are required to be in attendance for 80% of the time, agree to follow the CHARLTON BROWN® prac guidelines and to have some previous experience of supervision within the paid workforce.

The training placement is approved through DETA and is covered by Work Cover. No money is exchanged between the student and the family.

Another option for families is our Au-Pair program. This allows students from out of the Brisbane area to attend our college and stay with a family in exchange for board and accommodation. The student provides a maximum of 12 hours child care related duties weekly. Once again, no money is exchanged between the student and the family. These hours are additional to the Industry Placement hours. Au-Pairs who work beyond these 12 hours must be paid. Contact CHARLTON BROWN® for more details on 07 3221 3855.

Contact us for more information, or complete a Registration form.

PLEASE NOTE: Prac Family opportunities apply to Queensland families only. The allocation of prac placements is done by a combination of location and age of the children. CHARLTON BROWN® prefers the students to be placed close to their accommodation. Therefore, not all families who register are successful in receiving a Nanny-in-Training. Placements are done after the commencement of each course which run in February, April, July, September and November of each year.
