Rates and charges

Once you have registered with the CHARLTON BROWN® Agency and provided us with specific details of your requirements, we will be able to give you a firm estimate of costs for your nanny.

Total costs will depend on a number of factors, including whether it is a Family Placement or a Corporate Placement and the number of children to be cared for.

Family Placements

For Families, CHARLTON BROWN® offers two options to engage a Nanny: Labour Hire or Placement Fee.

Family Option 1 - Labour hire

The Labour Hire option ensures that the Nanny working for you remains an employee of CHARLTON BROWN®. The benefits of this employment option include:

No administration - you are free from hassle of paperwork such as: PAYG, Work Cover, Superannuation, and ATO requirements
No need to keep up with Industrial Relations law - CHARLTON BROWN® ensures that the Nanny is legally employed
The one Hourly Rate you pay to CHARLTON BROWN® covers all costs
Nannies are covered by professional indemnity insurance
You can claim a rebate (if eligible) through the Child Care Benefit Scheme
You have full backup support from CHARLTON BROWN® - we will be able to offer replacement Nannies if your Nanny is unable to work, if you require occasional additional hours/days of care or in emergency situations
You are still in control - you interview candidate/s and decide who your Nanny will be

Charge-out rates for CHARLTON BROWN® labour hire nannies

Charge-out rates for Nannies employed under the Labour Hire option commence at AUD$27.95 per hour (with a minimum of three (3) consecutive hours in any session). You will be issued with an invoice on a weekly basis. Invoices require payment within five (5) working days.

The Labour Hire charge out rate may be affected by

Age and number of children requiring care
Special need requirements
Number and types of duties required
Age and experience of the Nanny
Amount of Inactive Care - a rate of $15 is charged between 10pm and 6am

Agency Registration Fee

A fee of AUD$99 is payable at time of registration with the CHARLTON BROWN® Agency. This is a once-off, non-refundable fee that gives you life-long access to our Agency placement service.

Cancellation and short notice fees

A fee of AUD$25 is charged if a booking or a cancellation is made without 24 hours notice.

Performance Review

A performance review will be conducted on a six-monthly basis in order to evaluate the performance of the Nanny or Carer.

Conditions for Labour Hire

You interview candidate/s and decide who will be your Nanny
Labour Hire Nannies are employed and paid by CHARLTON BROWN®
You pay CHARLTON BROWN® the agreed Hourly Rate
You communicate directly with CHARLTON BROWN® on all matters pertaining to the Nanny's placement and performance
CHARLTON BROWN® will negotiate all employment conditions on behalf of the Nanny/Carer and you
All placements are reviewed on a six monthly basis
CHARLTON BROWN® issues receipts to you for the purpose of the Child Care Benefit scheme on confirmation of payment

Family Option 2 - Placement Fee

The Placement Fee option suits families who wish to undertake all the legal and administration requirements of employing a Nanny.

With this option:

The CHARLTON BROWN® Placement Agency will introduce you to Nannies wishing to be employed under this option
You interview candidate/s and decide who will be your Nanny
The Nanny's position description and a rate of pay is negotiated between you and the Nanny (providing it is equal to or above the national minimum wage rate).
You agree to employ the Nanny legally and ensure they are protected by work cover and any other legal obligations you incur as an employer
Upon employment of the Nanny by you, CHARLTON BROWN® will charge you a Placement Fee (in addition to you initial registration fee)
The Placement Fee provides a guarantee that if the Nanny you have employed Nanny leaves or is terminated within three (3) months of placement, CHARLTON BROWN® will assist you to find a replacement Nanny (see below for conditions)

Registration Fee

A fee of AUD$99 is payable at time of registration with the CHARLTON BROWN® Agency. This is a once-off, non-refundable fee that gives you life-long access to our Agency placement service.

Placement Fee and Conditions

The Placement Fee cost will be dependent on the number of hours required of the Nanny you employ. This cost commences at AUD$700 (+GST) with a maximum placement fee of AUD$1800 (+GST).

Once the placement and employment of the Nanny by you has been confirmed, full payment of the Placement Fee is required within fourteen (14) working days. If payment is received prior to the fourteen (14) day payment period an extra calendar- month will be added to your Nanny replacement guarantee. If payment is received after the fourteen (14) day payment period, the 3 month guarantee is void.

Corporate Crèches and Special Events

Agency Registration Fee

A fee of AUD$150 is payable at time of registration with the CHARLTON BROWN® Agency. This is a once-off, non-refundable fee that gives you life-long access to our Agency placement service.

Hourly Charge-out Rates

Nanny only - no crèche resources supplied = $35 per hour per nanny
Nanny with age-appropriate crèche resources supplied = $40 per hour per nanny

Other Fees and Charges

Short Notice Fee (Less than 3 working days) - $50
Cancellation Fee (Less than 3 working days) - $50
For large Special Events, or crèches provided outside of the Brisbane Metropolitan area, additional travel, supervision or administration charges may apply.
