RPL – Certificate III in Education Support

RPL for Certificate III in Education SupportRPL for Queensland Teacher Aides:

Teachers Aides support a Teacher or Educator in schools and other education facilities, underpinned by an Education Support qualification. Education Support involves studying pedagogical strategies to help children learn, in addition to supporting children with additional needs, handling legislative and ethical requirements and being mindful of a duty of care.

In Queensland, state schools are obligated to support their permanent or temporary teacher aides at OO2 (paypoint 4) to access recognition of prior learning toward obtaining a Certificate III in Education Support (RPL). This qualification seeks to recognise your existing knowledge and support your pathway to a higher paypoint (OO3 – paypoint 1).

This government obligation has now been formalised in the latest certified agreement for teacher aides, committing the Education Department to incorporating RPL providers into its existing supply arrangements. As a result schools will now have access to a panel of pre-qualified registered training organisations (RTOs) of which Charlton Brown is a part.

Understanding RPL:

In order for Charlton Brown to make an RPL assessment, you will be asked to provide the following:

  • Transcripts of qualifications completed
  • Job description
  • Professional development certificates
  • Up to date resume outlining work history, skills and knowledge

We will arrange a workplace visit to demonstrate your abilities, and you can provide additional job descriptions, references or performance appraisals. Charlton Brown’s training assessor will consider your skills and knowledge and match them against a suitable qualification. RPL centres on providing valid evidence that the knowledge, skills and experience they have matches a unit or qualification. The RPL process is student driven, involving collecting evidence to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experience that are relevant to the Certificate III in Education Support Qualification.
