This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person- centred support.
This course is available with either a Disability or Aged
Care specialisation. There are a minimum of 15 supervised scheduled face to face course contact hours on campus per week as well as 5 distance / online education hours per week. This comes to a total of 20 hours per week, which includes the work placement hours. Students are also required to undertake reading, activities, research, assessments and homework.

Recognition of Prior Learning:
We understand that you may have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, which may reduce your study duration.
- 16 years old or above
- Completion of Year 12 / High School overseas or Australian
Year 11 or equivalent
- IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent
- Pass CB LLN test
• Successful completion of a Police Clearance OR Blue Card application, depending on specialisation.
